FCT NOVA student, MIT Portugal, wins prize in the field of Bioengineering

On the 30th of June, in the framework of the conference "MIT Portugal: 10 years engineering a better future" held at the Campus of Gualtar of the University of Minho, a doctoral student at the MIT Portugal Program, Andreia dos Santos, who carries out her work in the Material group for Electronics Optoelectronics and Nanotechnologies of CENIMAT / I3N, was awarded the best poster prize in the bioengineering field.

Her work focuses on the development of sensors based on flexible thin films able to detect and estimate the blood pressure without resorting to methods of constricting the blood vessels, and is under the guidance of teachers Rui Igreja and Hugo Águas. The award was presented by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Prof. Manuel Heitor, the ceremony was also attended by Prof. Eugénio Ferreira, conference chairman, the Rector of the University of Minho, Prof. António Cunha and the President of the Foundation for Science and Technology, Prof. Paulo Ferrão.
