In the debate will be discussed issues like: algorithms associated with filtering and recommendation processes, and the social and political implications, in the traditional media and in the new digital media, of the recent phenomenon that is usually referred to as fake-news.

The debate "Fake News and Algorithms: Editorial Responsibility and Freedom of Expression in the Online World" will be held on May 24, in the Auditorium 1 of FCSH NOVA.

José Legatheaux Martins has been associated with the development of the Internet in Portugal since its inception in the early 1980s and was responsible for the country's first connection to the global network. The Director of the Internet Society - Portugal Chapter, recently elected, also includes Henrique João Domingos, professor of the Department of Informatics.
