Undergraduate Programme in Agro-Industrial Technology

The degree in Agro-Industrial Technology from NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA was created in 2022. It has a duration of 3 years and 180 ECTS.

The 1st cycle of studies in Agro-Industrial Technology at FCT NOVA takes as a reference framework that technological evolution and digitalization can increase, namely, the efficiency of resources, not only in terms of food processing, but also an intelligent agriculture in terms of environmental and climate change, reducing the impact of farms on the environment and climate, strengthening soil resilience and conservation and reducing costs for farmers. The study cycle is developed from basic scientific areas, with emphasis on Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Mathematics. In this context, it aims to provide students with skills in agri-food technologies, with the outline of profiles characteristic of potential employers.

Objectives

The degree in Agro-Industrial Technology adopts a perspective of employability at national and international levels and aiming to develop a solid conceptual and pragmatic training in the field of state-of-the-art technologies, with application in the production of raw materials and development of processed products in the agri-food sector. In this context, the objectives of this study cycle consider the development of skills to:
1-Optimization of production processes and intelligent transformation of goods, considering social, economic and environmental impacts;
2-Increase the efficiency of automation, computer and energy conversion and use systems, aiming at gains in scale and scope;
