Regulations of the Ranking Process
- Ranking Rules for Pre-Applications to the NOVA FCT Erasmus+ Programme (pdf)
VERY IMPORTANT:
Students can only apply for agreements specified for their course and which have been established within the scope of their study areas.
- All students that are really interested and are enrolled at NOVA FCT in studies that lead to a recognized degree (bachelor's degree – 1st cycle, master's degree – 2nd cycle, doctorate – 3rd cycle) are eligible to apply.
- 2nd cycle vacancies are intended for Master students or final-year undergraduate students who intend to enrol in Master Program at NOVA FCT in the next year.
- 3rd cycle vacancies are intended for PhD students or 2nd cycle graduate students who intend to enrol in PhD Program at NOVA FCT in the next year.
- 1st cycle students can only apply for 2nd cycle vacancies, if they already have 126 ECTS which are registered in CLIP, the agreement must include the 1st and 2nd cycles and must be recommended for the current and future courses.
- 2nd cycle students can only apply for 3rd cycle vacancies, if they already have 90 ECTS which are registered in CLIP, the agreement must include the 2nd and 3rd cycles and must be recommended for the current and future courses.
- Students placed in the 1st phase MUST confirm their interest in carrying out the Erasmus mobility. This mandatory requirement to confirm the interest applies for those placed in the 2nd phase. Students placed in the 1st and 2nd phases confirm the interest on the date(s) in the Erasmus Calendar (SMS).
- Students placed in the 1st phases who DO NOT confirm their interest will be automatically excluded by the system, will lose their allocated place and cannot apply to the 2nd phase. Students placed in the 2nd phases that do not confirm their interest, will also lose their place.
- Students who were not placed in the 1st phase of pre-applications may re-apply in the 2nd phase for those agreements that still have vacancies.
- Students placed in the 1st or 2nd phases will not be able to make any exchange.
- If, in the current study cycle, the students have already done Erasmus through NOVA FCT, or another higher education institution, they must deduct the number of months on Erasmus from the total 12 months which they are entitled to for each study cycle.
- Before submitting pre-applications, ALL students should check the websites of the Host Universities to verify if there are any courses (UC) of interest, if language certificates or skills are required and/or if there are any other pre-requisites.
- We advise the students to verify the compatibility of curricula between the UA and NOVA FCT. If necessary, they should ask for support from the Course Coordinators and/or Erasmus Departmental Coordinators:
- Despite being selected by NOVA FCT, and formalizing the Erasmus application (through the submission of the documentation that will be requested by NOVA FCT and the UA), the mobility will only be guaranteed after the Host University approves the application, and informs the student that he/she has been accepted.

Interinstitutional agreements
Final list of interinstitutional agreements available for student mobility (SMS) in 2026/2027
- Listed by Department and comprising recommended NOVA FCT courses (Here)
- UA's Websites (Here)
After consulting the list of available agreements, and taking into account the recommended degree programmes and study cycles indicated for each agreement, students must consult the website of the Host University in order to:
a) verify the compatibility of the academic offer with that of NOVA FCT, particularly with regard to the awarding of credits/recognition, after validation by the Departmental Erasmus Coordinator;
b) check whether there are any required prerequisites, namely language proficiency requirements and the possible obligation to submit a language certificate;
c) if the information is not readily available, contact the Host University directly by email in order to obtain the necessary clarifications.
On CLIP, under Mobilidade Europeia 2026/2027 – Acordos em Vigor, students may consult the number of available places and the duration of the mobility period established for each agreement, which must be fully complied with.
Important note: the number of students nominated by NOVA FCT may not exceed the number of places defined in each agreement.
