Doctor Honoris Causa Award to Grace Pandor at FCT NOVA, Minister of Science and

The NOVA University of Lisbon will award the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Grace Naledi Pandor. The ceremony will take place on July 14 at 11:30 am in the Grand Auditorium of FCT NOVA and will be attended by Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation and Manuel Heitor, Minister of Science Technology and Higher Education who will deliver the laudatory prayer.

Grace Naledi Mandisa Pandor is the Minister of Science and Technology of the Republic of South Africa, a post she has held since May 26, 2014. She has been a member since 1994 and a member of the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress (ANC) since 2002.

The title of Honoris Causa is an academic recognition to individuals of great prestige, who become part of the body of doctors of the University.

Among the personalities who were awarded the Doctor Honoris Causa degree by the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, we highlight Paul Samuelson, Sir Nevill F. Mott (Nobel Prize in Physics 1977), Jacques Delors, Willem Duisenberg, Robert Huber (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1988), Robert Mundell (Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences 1999), Mary Robinson, Calvet de Magalhães, Edmund Phelps (Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences 2006) and Kofi Annan (Nobel Peace Prize 2001).
