30-07-2025

Élia Roldão, professor at the Department of Conservation and Restoration and researcher at LAQV-REQUIMTE at NOVA FCT, is one of the experts who contributed to the book Conservation of Photographs: Significance, Use and Care, recently published by the renowned publisher Routledge.

The book brings together contributions from around 100 internationally recognized specialists and offers a comprehensive, inclusive, and interdisciplinary approach to the conservation of photographs — spanning from analog processes to the challenges of the digital age. Supported by a multi- and cross-disciplinary approach, the texts gathered in this volume help to contextualize our photographic heritage and its long-term conservation.

The professor's contribution is part of a collective effort to reflect on the perception and use of photography, the evolution of the field of photograph conservation, and the innovative methodologies that shape the study, characterization, and conservation of photographic heritage.

This publication stands as a key reference for researchers, students, and professionals in the fields of photography, conservation, art history, and cultural heritage.
