Luísa Jordão, a PhD student in Environment and Sustainability at NOVA FCT and researcher at MARE, was awarded the Best Poster Prize at the XXV Meeting of the Network for Environmental Studies of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (REALP), held from 2 to 6 September at the University of Évora.

The awarded work, entitled “Climate Change Adaptation through Public Participation: Case Study of Costa da Caparica”, presents an innovative approach that demonstrates how the active involvement of local communities can strengthen resilience and reduce vulnerability to climate risks. The study highlights the importance of strategic plans tailored to the local scale, combined with community participation, in building “adaptation communities” that are better prepared to face the impacts of climate change.

This recognition underscores the quality and relevance of the research developed within the PhD Programme in Environment and Sustainability, evidencing the essential role of NOVA FCT students and researchers in producing scientific knowledge focused on today’s pressing environmental challenges.
