The start of a new academic year is always a moment of excitement and renewal at NOVA FCT. At the entrance of the Great Auditorium, hundreds of students eagerly awaited the Opening Session, marking the beginning of another academic cycle.
The School's reputation and welcoming environment were decisive factors in making the Caparica Campus a second home for these new students.
“I had very good references about NOVA FCT, and that’s why it was my first choice,” said Matilde Matanço, who is now starting her Bachelor’s in Cell and Molecular Biology. Like her, five students from Liceu S. João do Estoril, who visited the School during EXPO (Open Day), chose to continue their studies at NOVA FCT in areas such as Environmental Sciences, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Civil Engineering. “I was undecided between NOVA FCT and Técnico, but the atmosphere here was the decisive factor,” added Martim Ferreira.
“For me, as Dean of the School, this is one of the happiest moments of the year. Today, NOVA FCT is rejuvenated with more than 1,000 young people joining our community,” said José Júlio Alferes, Dean of NOVA FCT, during the ceremony.
Carla Quintão, Vice-Dean for the Pedagogical Council, emphasized: “We count on you to carry forward the spirit of NOVA FCT. And remember, our achievements only make sense if each of you places them at the service of a greater good.”
The session also included remarks from Diogo Santos, President of the NOVA FCT Students’ Union, and a representative of the General Directorate of the Lisbon Academic Federation.
