On October 2, the inauguration ceremony of the elected members of the Faculty Council for the 2025–2029 term took place in the Grand Auditorium of NOVA FCT.
The Faculty Council is a representative collegial body of the School (Article 9 of the Statutes), composed of 15 members: nine teaching and research staff, two students, one non-teaching and non-research staff member, and three external individuals. This body is responsible for defining and monitoring the strategic guidelines of NOVA FCT, in accordance with the law, the statutes, and the School’s mission.
During the session, the outgoing President of the Faculty Council, Mário Figueira, inaugurated the representatives of the teaching and research staff, students, and non-teaching/non-research staff, expressing his gratitude for the work carried out by the outgoing members and wishing success to those newly elected.
In his speech, the Dean of NOVA FCT, José Júlio Alferes, highlighted the generosity and dedication of the outgoing members, as well as the availability of those now taking office. He also emphasized the essential role of this body:“This is the School’s highest governing body. It is the Faculty Council that defines what the School is and how it is organized.”
The Faculty Council will be complete after the co-option of three external members, one of whom will be elected to preside over the body.
