NOVA FCT joins the Municipality of Almada in organizing the 13th National Meeting of Resilient Cities and Towns (ENCVR), which will take place on the School’s Campus on December 9. The event continues on December 10 and 11, co-organized by the municipalities of Almada, Seixal, and Sesimbra.
The first day, hosted at NOVA FCT’s Main Auditorium, highlights the role of science and innovation in building safer and more prepared communities.
Through the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (DCEA) and the MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, NOVA FCT coordinates a Living Lab in Almada (Costa da Caparica), a space for applied research and public participation dedicated to co-developing solutions that strengthen local resilience. This laboratory is part of RISCO – Research Centre for Risk Assessment and Management and Civil Protection, a partnership between NOVA FCT, LNEC, and the Municipality of Almada.
This collaboration demonstrates NOVA FCT’s commitment to knowledge transfer and the promotion of active dialogue with the community, bringing science, innovation, and social responsibility closer together.
The ENCVR is a flagship initiative of the Portuguese Network of Resilient Cities and Towns, and it is part of the international program “Making Cities Resilient 2030” (MCR2030), promoted by the UNDRR – United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.
