Artificial Intelligence for everyone at NOVA: discover the IAEdu platform

20-01-2026

Since January 6, the entire academic NOVA community – students, faculty, researchers, and staff – will have access to the IAEdu platform and its advanced LLM models. OpenAI GPT-4o, Mistral 2411, OpenAI o4-Mini and OpenAI GPT-4o with RAG, meaning with web search. This is the result of the protocol signed in December by NOVA’s Rector, Paulo Pereira, and the FCCN.

Access is simple and straightforward: just use your institutional account to log into the platform via the IAEdu link. In just a few clicks, you will have a set of artificial intelligence tools at your disposal, designed to transform the way we learn, teach, research and work.

This initiative is a significant milestone in the adoption of AI technologies in higher education in Portugal. Not only does IAEdu offer innovative solutions to optimise academic and administrative work, it also fully complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ensuring the security and privacy of all user data.

“This system also safeguards the information used in the prompts, ensuring that it will not be used for model training (LLMs), commercialisation or sharing with third parties,” emphasises Manuela Aparício, Pro-Rector of NOVA responsible for Pedagogical Innovation.

With IAEdu, NOVA is taking another step towards building a modern, dynamic academic ecosystem that is prepared for future challenges. It is a unique opportunity for the entire community to explore the ethical and responsible potential of artificial intelligence in alignment with the university’s values.

The NOVA Rectorate is proud to provide this technological advancement through its FCCN protocol, reflecting its commitment to equipping the academic community with the best tools for success.
