02-03-2026

The PATRIMÓNIO CULTURAL 360® project, promoted by Património Cultural, Instituto Público, has been distinguished with the “Digital Transformation Award 2025”, granted by the APDSI – Association for the Promotion and Development of the Information Society, with the support of Oracle Portugal.

This award recognizes projects that harness technology to serve people, promoting a more digital, inclusive, and citizen-centered society.

Implemented under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the project aims to produce and make freely available online 2D and 3D digitizations of movable cultural assets, documentary and animation films, and virtual tours of museums, palaces, monuments, and archaeological sites across Portugal.

The NOVA University Lisbon, through HEDGE – Heritage, Digitalization and Empowerment for Global Engagement, coordinated by NOVA FCT (Nuno Correia, Department of Computer Science and NOVALINCS, and Márcia Vilarigues, Department of Conservation and Restoration and VICARTE), is a key partner in the development of the project, contributing innovative technological solutions to the preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage.

With over 42,000 digitized objects, 4,200 3D models, and dozens of virtual tours, the NOVA team, in close collaboration with Património Cultural, I.P. and Museus e Monumentos de Portugal, E.P.E., has helped transform the way Portuguese heritage is preserved and experienced, making it more accessible and engaging for all citizens.
