Márcia Vilarigues, professor and researcher at the Department of Conservation and Restoration (DCR) of NOVA FCT, has recently been invited to join the permanent Scientific Committee of World Monuments Fund Portugal (WMF Portugal).

WMF Portugal is a non-profit association that, for more than three decades, has promoted and funded conservation projects for architectural heritage in Portugal, combining scientific and patronage components from both national and international sources. Since 1993, it has supported major projects such as the conservation of the Tower of Belém, the Jerónimos Monastery, the Gardens of Queluz Palace, the Monument to King John V in Terreiro do Paço, and the Alcântara Maritime Stations, among others.

Márcia Vilarigues’ appointment to this role recognizes her academic and scientific career in the field of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, while also strengthening NOVA FCT’s impact and visibility as a leading institution in research and in the promotion of sustainability and heritage enhancement.

The WMF Portugal Scientific Committee is currently composed of Fernando Henriques (Department of Civil Engineering, NOVA FCT), Delgado Rodrigues (LNEC), Ana Paula Pinto (IST), and now Márcia Vilarigues.
