20-04-2026

António Pinho Ramos, a professor at the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC) at NOVA FCT, has been awarded the title of 2025 National Champion in sport shooting, in a ceremony organized by the Portuguese Shooting Federation.

The awards ceremony took place on April 18, recognizing athletes who stood out across various disciplines during the 2025 sports season. During the event, António Pinho Ramos, an athlete from the Portuguese Club of Practical and Precision Shooting, received diplomas corresponding to the titles of National Champion in the BR25 Heavy Rifle category and in the Light & Heavy Rifle Aggregate.

With more than four decades of federated practice in the sport, the professor highlights sport shooting as an activity that promotes concentration, discipline, and dedication—skills that impact both his professional and personal life.

Sport shooting also has a family dimension. António Pinho Ramos regularly involves his family in the practice, strengthening bonds through sport. An example of this was the participation of his son, Francisco Ramos, a Master’s student at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia of the University of Lisbon, who was part of the team that won the National Team Champion title in the BR25 Light & Heavy Rifle disciplines, representing the same club.

With this distinction, António Pinho Ramos sees a long path of dedication to sport shooting recognized, also bringing the name of NOVA FCT to the highest level of national competition.
