Elvira Fortunato, professor and researcher at NOVA FCT, has once again been recognised as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Portugal, in a distinction promoted by Executiva magazine, now in its 11th edition.

The ranking evaluates five criteria — career, image, network, power and wealth — to select the most influential women across areas as diverse as business, culture, politics, justice, media and sport. Elvira Fortunato has featured in this list since its very first edition, a feat that places her among a very select group of personalities with an unbroken presence in the selection.

Full Professor and world pioneer in paper electronics and transparent electronics, Elvira Fortunato has built a career defined by scientific excellence: with nearly one thousand published articles, more than 50 international awards and three European Research Council grants. After serving as Minister of Science between 2022 and 2024, she returned to research and teaching, while keeping her public voice active through the weekly segment Termómetro, on TSF radio.

"Being on this list for the 11th consecutive year is a source of pride, but also of responsibility. It is a recognition I share with everyone who works alongside me, and it reinforces the importance of continuing to show that, in science and in leadership, there are no boundaries, not of gender, nor of geography," she said.

The Executiva magazine initiative aims to highlight women who stand out for their vision, capacity for achievement and power to drive change, underscoring the importance of female role models who inspire future generations to aspire to leadership positions.
