NOVA FCT Talent in the Spotlight at the Caixa Mais Mundo Awards

14-05-2026

NOVA FCT once again stood out on the national academic scene in the 8th edition of the Caixa Mais Mundo Awards, with students recognized for their academic excellence and Professor Elvira Fortunato included in the initiative’s list of patrons.

Of the 26 University of NOVA Lisbon students awarded in this edition, around 30% are NOVA FCT students, a clear reflection of the quality and consistency of the School's academic training.

Promoted by Caixa Geral de Depósitos, the programme awarded 600 students from across the country in 2025/26, through scholarships and merit prizes, with a total investment of €780,000. The initiative recognizes academic merit and promotes equal opportunities in access to higher education.

In this edition, Elvira Fortunato lent her name to a set of scholarships granted to students benefiting from social support, joining a list of patrons that includes figures such as Mário Soares, Sophia de Mello Breyner, José Saramago, Fernando Pessoa, Zeca Afonso, Rui Nabeiro, and Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The ceremony took place on 11 May at Culturgest in Lisbon.
