NOVA FCT made its mark at the National University Swimming Championship, held in Coimbra, with three student-athletes representing the school and contributing to an outstanding collective performance by NOVA University Lisbon, filled with medals and national university records.
Among the highlights of the NOVA FCT delegation, Ema Conceição stood out as the star of the competition. The student claimed victory in the 50m freestyle and the 200m freestyle — a race in which she also set a new National University Record. Her performance extended beyond individual competition: Ema was also part of the mixed 4x50m freestyle relay, a team that likewise broke a National University Record, and the women's 4x50m freestyle relay, which earned a podium medal.
Miguel Almeida was another key contributor from our School to NOVA's collective results. The student was part of the mixed 4x50m freestyle relay that broke the national record, also swam on the men's 4x50m freestyle relay, and individually recorded a 10th-place finish in the 50m freestyle and a 7th-place finish in the 50m butterfly — both highly competitive events.
Gonçalo Carvalho rounded out NOVA FCT's representation with a strong and consistent performance, finishing 5th in both the 100m breaststroke and the 200m individual medley — results that reflect the quality and preparation of the athletes who represent the School in national competitions.
The participation of NOVA FCT students in the National University Swimming Championship reinforces the School's commitment to a well-rounded education, one that combines academic excellence with athletic development.
