João Martins, faculty member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC), has been unanimously elected to join the Executive Committee of the Current/OS Foundation, assuming the chairmanship of the Education Committee of this internationally recognised organisation.

The election, approved by all members of the association, represents an acknowledgement of the professor's academic and scientific career in the field of the electrical sector. As Chair of the Education Committee, João Martins will play a determining role in the organisation's strategic direction, leading its educational and technical capacity-building dimension on a global scale.

The Current/OS Foundation is a global, independent, non-profit association dedicated to promoting open standards for the decentralised management of Direct Current (DC) energy. Its mandate focuses on electrical safety, the resilience of energy systems, and ensuring reliable and sustainable access to electricity. The association brings together manufacturers, researchers, and other stakeholders in the electrical sector, counting among its members world-leading companies such as ABB, Schneider Electric, and Eaton, and participating in European energy transition initiatives, namely the Shift to DC project.
