The NOVA University Lisbon welcomed, on June 8, nearly 90 student-athletes who won medals in university sporting competitions throughout this academic year. The Rector, Paulo Pereira, praised the sporting results, the spirit of perseverance, and the commitment of the students, stating: "These are results that fill us with pride."
Among the honored students, NOVA FCT had a prominent presence. Ema Conceição, a student of the School, was one of the standout figures in NOVA's university swimming, winning the 50m and 200m freestyle events and setting national university records in the 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle.
In athletics, NOVA FCT contributed with four national university titles: Catarina Lourenço in the 100m, Elena Furk and Francisco Lima in the high jump, and Guilherme Faias in the 400m. These results helped NOVA achieve 2nd place overall in the National University Athletics Championship (CNU de Atletismo).
In university orienteering, Vasco Mendes, a student and lecturer at NOVA FCT, won his fourth consecutive title as National University Champion, reinforcing his leadership in the sport and symbolizing the competitive consistency of the School's students.
The NOVA initiative also highlighted institutional support for university sports, including the university's sports merit scholarships, which enable students to balance academic rigor with high-level sporting practice.
This event celebrated an extraordinary season, marked by new records, collective titles, and medals across various sports, confirming NOVA as a reference in education and in the personal development of its students.
