From artificial intelligence and digital citizenship to teaching methodologies and well-being, the courses can be taken at each participant's own pace and offer the possibility of certification.

Learning to recognise the influence of algorithms in everyday life, exploring artificial intelligence in education or rethinking our relationship with technology: these are some of the learning paths available in NOVA FCT's Open Learning Community. Through the "Science and Technology in Education" (CTNE) platform, the Faculty offers ten free online courses, lasting 7 or 10 hours each, with the possibility of obtaining a certificate upon meeting each course's requirements.

The courses, all taught in Portuguese, are aimed at different audiences, from people interested in developing digital skills to teachers and trainers looking to renew their practices. Access is ongoing and each participant can learn at their own pace, with spaces for discussion and reflection so that learning is also built as a community.

The courses available are:

  • Generative AI as a Pedagogical Problem: the ethical use of AI and assessment in teaching (7 hours).
  • Algorithmic Literacy and Digital Citizenship: algorithms, fact-checking and digital rights (7 hours).
  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL): strategies to identify and reduce barriers to learning (7 hours).
  • Opening Up Knowledge: Producing Dialogic MOOCs: designing open online courses (10 hours).
  • Humanised Digital Education: care, dialogue and authorship in digital environments (7 hours).
  • Organising the Course Unit: structuring clearer learning paths (7 hours).
  • Neuroscience of Care in Education: attention, learning and psychological safety (7 hours).
  • A PORTA (The Door): Digital Skills for Networked Citizenship: skills for critical and safe digital participation (10 hours).
  • Active Teaching and Learning Methodologies: designing meaningful and collaborative learning experiences (10 hours).
  • Digital Well-Being: Rhythms and Pauses: reflecting on habits and balance in digital life (7 hours).

How to take part: simply visit the courses page, choose a course, create a free account if you don't already have one, confirm your email address and enrol in the course of your choice. For some courses, you can explore the introduction and initial information before enrolling.

With this initiative, NOVA FCT invites the national and international community to get to know the university through learning. It is a gateway to new skills, new conversations and, for those who wish, new study paths.
