Open call for PhD scholarship applications within RaBBiT programme for the 2014/2015 edition


On July 19, the student Frederico João Branco, president of FCT’s Students’ Union, was elected President of Faire - Academic Federation for Information and External Representation, structure representing the Higher Education Portuguese Students at  international level, both at European level and at Mediterranean level. 


Applications are invited for a Research Fellowship (BI) within the Project M-ERA.NET/0010/2012 (MAGPHOGLAS)


Applications are invited for a Research Fellowship (BI, Master) within the Project "Si QuaDot".


Two Gradute Scholarships (Introduction to Research) in Computer Science projects "GoBusiness Finance –Non Gaussian Models in Financial Markets" and “InspireBiz – Text Miningin Semantic aware Service Oriented Architeture”.


The University of Florence has published a call for candidatures to the above 3‐years Course. 
The Course is run jointly by the Univ. of Florence (Italy), in consortium with University of Pisa, University of Perugia, and the TU Braunschweig (Germany) and leads to a jointly recognised Ph.D. title in both countries.


Last 11 July, the awards for "Best Dissertation in Structures", awarded by the Structural Division of FCT-UNL’s  Civil Engineering Department  and the UNIC - Centre for Research in Structures and Construction took place. These awards had the support of CSI Portugal, IPQ, Hilti Portugal and Pearson Portugal. 


The Fulbright Commission - Luso-American Cultural Commission is organizing an internship program, in order to provide young bachelor and master students and recent graduates an work experience in an international educational exchange organization.


Cecília Roque, head of FCT’s Biomolecular Engineering Lab, and her team, composed by Ana Margarida Dias, Ana Sofia Pina and Ricardo Branco, participated in Porrtugal’s COTEC, COHiTEC 2014 program with a device used for microorganisms identification of in wounds in a non-invasive and quick way. 


From 14 to 16 of July, it happens in the Mathematics Department of FCT-UNL  the first meeting of secondary teachers in FCT-UNL -ProfNova.

On June 23rd, Diana Ribeiro, from the Macromolecular Crystallography & GlycoLab Group at FCT-UNL, was awarded the Prize for Best Poster entitled “Use of Gold Nanoparticles as Additives in Protein Crystallization”, by The International Organization for Biological Crystallization, in the 1st FEBS-INSTRUCT Practical Crystallization Course, that took place in Nové Hrady, Czech Republic. 


FCT-UNL is represented in the European consortium named Eurelco - Enhanced Landfill Mining. This consortium wants to develop projects in the field of enhanced landfill mining in EU. Additional information is available in the following web-site:
