GLUEY aims to develop a new class of bioinspired, citric-acid-based deep eutectic solvent adhesives incorporatingnon-canonical amino acids (ncAAs). Inspired by natural adhesive systems and leveraging the chemical diversity ofncAAs, these formulations will offer tunable viscosity, polarity, and hydrogen-bond networks, enabling enhancedadhesion and stability under environmental conditions. Expected outcomes include biocompatible adhesives withlong-term durability, strong bonding across diverse substrates, and functional responsiveness for advancedapplications. By creating bioinspired DES adhesives with programmable properties, GLUEY will open pathways tosustainable materials for flexible electronics, biomedical patches, and smart biointerfaces, uniting green chemistrywith next-generation interface design.
