Master in Biochemistry for Health

Started in the academic year 2013/2014. The Master is an Association between three institutions of the NOVA University: FCT, ITQB and FCM. The course only starts with 10 or more confirmed entries as definite by the Executive Council of the FCT NOVA.

Objetivos

The Master course aims the development of a critical and analytical perspective of Biochemical issues related with Human Health.

This objective will be achieved through a sound knowledge base in biochemistry, with interfacial aspects of Biophysics, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry (especially inside a pharmacological perspective) and Human and Social Sciences. Thus Course main goal is to provide a multidisciplinary education supplying access to areas of research and development in several sectors of industry and services related to Human Health (e.g., Pharmaceutical Industry, Clinical Analysis and Biotechnology).

Acceptance rate in masters

Accepted applicants will have to pay (within a maximum of 7 consecutive days from the date of placement) a non-refundable rate of 100 euros, which will be deducted, after registration, from the total tuition fee.  Any payment made after the deadline will not be refunded, leaving the candidate excluded.

Admission requirements

  1. Degree holder in named area or in the Exact Sciences and Technology areas;
  2. Holders of a foreign academic degree in required areas conferred following the 1st cycle of studies according to the Bologna Process;
  3. Holders of a foreign academic degree in required areas recognized as meeting the objectives of the Bachelor´s degree by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Science and Technology;
  4. Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting the capacity to accomplish referred cycle of studies by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Sobre o Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry is a permanent organic unity of the NOVA School of Science and Technology, devoted to teaching, to scientific research and to provide services in areas of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering. The Chemistry Department (DQ, founded in 1981, has recognized market implementation in education and employment, particularly so because of the novelty and specificity introduced by the course in Applied Chemistry with which teaching at the School of Chemistry began.
