During a whole week, 20 to 24 of July, 24 college students from 16 different nationalities visited the FCT NOVA Caparica Campus and the Computer Science and Informatics Department to learn how to develop a computer game. The summer course, organized by BEST Almada, sponsored by Accenture, with the collaboration of the NOVA Informatics department, was called “Build your summer addiction!”. Professors João Costa Seco e Fernando Birra from the Integrated Master in Informatics Engineering were responsible for the lectures and lab sessions.
The students were divided in multi-disciplinary teams that conceived, planned, and developed prototypes of computerized games for the web and mobile devices. The course followed a specific software development methodology and frameworks for web applications and games.
“I think it is amazing that you can design and create an entire game in just 5 days. It was a new experience to turn a game into an app and I enjoyed seeing all my friends getting addicted to it.” Maxim Bonnaerens (Bélgica)
"I am so thankful that I attended this BEST Summer Course, it was a real amazing experience. (…) The course itself it was a real path opener for me, I got to learn so much in so little time, which was wonderful. (...)" Simona Bostaca (Roménia)
