SONAE cooperates on a MIEI’s curricular unit

"Integration Project "is an optional course in the 6th semester of the MIEI where students are faced with a real challenge problem, whose solution constitutes a medium-sized computer science project. Each work group of 3 or 4 students define the project that is designed and developed during the semester. (For more information on course see here.

In all the previous editions the challenge is launched by the teaching team. In the 2014/15 edition the challenge was launched by a DI partner: SONAE. João Almeida (Business Partner Analyst) and João Guerra (Innovation Analyst) presented the following challenge: "How to improve the WORTEN customer (or potential customer) experience, blurring the separation among the WORTEN digital channels and physical Stores". At the challenge ( kickoff) session presentation to students, this short movie was projected, resuming the challenge.

Using "Design Thinking" techniques (with the support of Pedro Janeiro from Novabase), students conducted numerous interviews with customers and employees from two WORTEN stores, and each group defined the problem that considered important to be solved and proposed a solution.

Currently the student groups are finalizing the implementation of their solutions.

On the 6th July a public presentation of solutions will be held for academic evaluation purposes. On July 8th at 10:30 there will be a final session to reward the best project of this year´s Integration Project edition.
