Prize Alberto Romão Dias given to António Pires de Matos

The Alberto Romão Dias Award, established by the Portuguese Society of Chemistry (SPQ) in 2009, is awarded biennially to a chemical that has been distinguished by the high quality, originality and autonomy of the research work, developed in Portugal, in the areas of Inorganic Chemistry and Organometallic.

In 2016 edition, the jury, consisting of Maria José Calhorda, Artur Silva, Joaquim Marçalo, C. Carlos Romão, José J. G. Moura, Mario N. Berberan e Santos and José A. Martinho Simões, decided unanimously to award the prize to Antonio Pires de Matos, Emeritus researcher coordinator of the IST-UL (CTN) and Emeritus Visiting Professor of the FCT NOVA.

The award will be presented during the conference of SPQ’s Chemical Division of Inorganic and Bioinorganic, which this year will take place in Sintra on 7 and 8 October (http://11icc.eventos.chemistry.pt/), at which Professor António Pires de Matos will give a plenary lesson.
