Rodrigo Gonçalves, professor and researcher at the Department of Civil Engineering, recently received the "Outstanding Paper Award" in the "Analytical Research" category at the "9th International Conference on Thin-Walled Structures".
The award recognised the work "Applications of the Geometrically Exact Beam Theory to Non-Prismatic Beams", which proposes a geometrically exact mathematical formulation to model the structural behaviour of thin-walled bars with variable cross-section, curved and/or pre-twisted axis, in the domain of large displacements and finite rotations.
The event, which brought together experts in the field, took place between 29 November and 1 December 2023 in Sydney, Australia.
