NOVA FCT continues to invest in strengthening and valuing its employees

19-12-2023

The ninth signing ceremony for 2023 contracts with teaching and non-teaching staff took place on December 14. In total, four professors advanced in their careers, three new non-teaching and non-research staff were hired, and seven workers joined the NOVA FCT staff.

In the academic career, Carla Maria Gonçalves Ferreira and João Miguel Magalhães, both from the Department of Computer Science, and António Manuel Pinho Ramos, from the Department of Civil Engineering, were promoted to the category of Full Professors.

"Full Professors are responsible for shaping the scientific and pedagogical areas, and we are proud to announce three more appointments," said the Director of NOVA FCT, José Júlio Alferes.

In the case of researcher Carla Maria Gonçalves, it is worth noting that she is the sixth woman in Computer Science and in Portugal to achieve this academic degree.

Also in the academic career, Luís Gonçalo Correia Baltazar, a researcher in the Civil Engineering Department, signed a contract as an Associate Professor.

The Civil Engineering Department welcomed Margarida Tigeleiro Conceição; the Financial Resources Division and the Human Resources Division were also strengthened with the hiring of Sónia Cristina Loureiro and Marco Antunes, respectively.

For the first time, this session included the signing of open-ended non-teaching contracts. As the Director of NOVA FCT mentioned, "it makes perfect sense for it to take place in this solemn context, marking the integration of workers into the School's staff. After all, it's the celebration of a relationship that has been built up between both parties and which, by mutual choice, is maintained."

Among the workers who have been given permanent contracts are Ana Cristina Barbosa, from the Planning and Quality Division; Ângela Ribeiro and Sandra Soares from the Financial Resources Division; Vinícius Cordeiro, from the Civil Engineering Department; Ademário Tavares, from the e-Learning Laboratory; Ana Margarida Albano, from GAPA; and Paula Doroteia, from the Human Resources Division. All the non-teaching staff are in the category of Senior Technician.

The ceremony took place in the meeting room of Building I and was attended by the Board of Directors and several colleagues who came together to mark the occasion.
