The Periodic Table is alive

On the day of the Opening Ceremony of the International Year of the Periodic Table, the Chemistry Department of FCT NOVA organizes a living Periodic Table set up by school students  at the Júlio Ferraz Urban Park in Almada. This table will be coordinated with others organized in Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Funchal, Tomar, Vila Real, Castelo Branco, Évora, Coimbra and Castelo Branco with the coordination of the Portuguese Chemistry Society.

In the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Russian chemist Dimitry Mendeleev, each city will join 118 primary and secondary school students to give substance to all chemical elements composing the periodic table.

This is the second initiative in which FCT NOVA is involved to celebrate the Periodic Table. On December 5, a wall representing the Periodic Table was inaugurated that can be visited on the facade of the Faculty Library.

Keep up to date with all the activities proposed by FCT NOVA to celebrate the ephemeris here.
