The growing and challenging digital transformation, the internet, social networks, and the widespread use of sensors continuously generate large volumes of data in key sectors such as healthcare, public administration, media and communication, marketing and e-commerce, finance, energy, environment and urban planning, telecommunications, pharmaceutical industry, and bioinformatics.
The Master’s in Big Data Analysis and Engineering trains highly specialized professionals with an innovative profile and a strong ability to create value from data in management and innovation processes across all industry and service sectors.
The Master’s in Big Data Analysis and Engineering benefits from the expertise of two NOVA FCT departments: Computer Science and Mathematics, which form the foundation of Data Science and Engineering.
With a strong theoretical and practical component, this Master’s program develops solid skills in processing and analyzing large volumes of data using cutting-edge methods and methodologies (Machine Learning, Advanced Data Analysis).

These scholarships, worth 450 euros, are available to all students from the School or other Higher Education Institutions who are applying for the first time to the first year of a Master’s programme at NOVA FCT and have a final undergraduate grade of 15 or higher.

The course objectives are aligned with the “National Digital Skills Initiative e.2030,” focusing on the specialization axis (qualification and creation of higher added value in the economy) and research axis (Big Data).
The program enables the development of skills related to the processing and analysis of large volumes of data using advanced computational and mathematical methods, and methodologies to search for and find answers necessary for management, monitoring, and optimization processes, or to extract knowledge, trends, correlations, or predictions, particularly through machine learning.
Tuition fee - Portuguese students: 2000€ / year
Tuition fee - Foreign students: 7000€ / year
MASTER’S ACCEPTANCE FEE (in Portuguese only):
Accepted candidates must pay a non-refundable fee of 300 euros within a maximum period of 7 consecutive days from the placement date. This amount will be deducted from the total tuition fee after enrollment.
Failure to pay within this deadline will result in the automatic exclusion of the candidates. No exceptions or late payments will be accepted. Any payment made after the deadline will not be refunded, and the candidates’ exclusion will remain in effect.
