Following the success of the first edition, the Winter School of Mathematics - MathMasters returns to Caparica's campus. The mathematics winter school for college students runs from January 13 to 17, 2020, and enrollment is now open.
The MathMasters is an annual event organized by the NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA) Department of Mathematics, which welcomes university students with different backgrounds, linked to the most diverse scientific areas. This initiative aims to be a particularly conducive mean of establishing contacts between students, teachers and companies.
This year, in addition to the thematic sessions, the winter school includes two courses: “Introduction to R”, by Regina Bispo, professor at FCT NOVA's Department of Mathematics, and “Introduction to Python”, by Pedro Barahona, teacher at Department of Informatics of FCT NOVA. The winter school has the participation of several companies that, recognizing the importance of mathematics in the various areas of intervention, joined the event, thus allowing direct interaction between students and professionals.
