Elvira Fortunato, professor and researcher in the Department of Material Sciences at the NOVA School of Science and Technology, was recently bestowed the "Estrecho de Magallanes" Award, granted by the Government of Chile.

In the announcement, the embassy of Chile in Portugal stresses that "this distinction recognizes the pioneering sense of the scientist's investigations in the area of transparent electronics, in particular the Invisible project recently presented with the European "Impact Horizon 2020 Award", and which have had important social and economic repercussions today ".

The prize "Estrecho de Magallanes" was established within the scope of the celebrations of the 500 years of the first circumnavigation of the Earth by the Portuguese navigator Fernão de Magalhães. This trip “demonstrates the idea that the impossible can be transgressed and that the place can become global, as they did the investigations by Elvira Fortunato ", adds the communication.
