Three days of scientific presentations, debate and celebration concluded the work of the summer schools of the research centers LAQV - Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry and UCIBIO - Applied Biomolecular Sciences Unit of the NOVA School of Science and Technology, which took place over the last three months in the Department of Chemistry .
The Scientific Symposium, which took place between the 21st and 23rd of October, brought together more than 30 presentations shown by participants and guests. The opening session was attended by Susana Filipe Barreiros, President of the Department of Chemistry , and the coordinators of the two research centers.
These summer schools introduced students, of different levels of training, from finalists / recent graduates to master and even pre-doctoral students, to various scientific research practices. The participants were able to engage in an experimental project, developed skills in science communication, critical analysis of results, critical thinking and teamwork. The two schools took place within the scope of the initiative “Summer with Science”. The initiative promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology is a special patronage to “Summer Schools” in Polytechnics and Universities launched in the summer of 2020, specifically to support in-person activities of students, teachers and researchers, including innovative solutions associated with the Program for Economic and Social Stabilization, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
