Plasticity Exhibition awarded by the Portuguese Association of Museology

The Plasticity - A History of Plastics in Portugal exhibition, which included the collaboration of the Department of Conservation and Restoration (DCR) and the Interuniversity Center for the History of Science and Technology, was recently distinguished at the Awards of the Portuguese Association of Museology (APOM) .

The exhibit won 4 prizes: Special prize in good practices for the Leiria Museum, Museology Work Award, Honorable mention in Conservation and Restoration intervention and Honorable mention for the temporary exhibition of the Plasticity show. The conservation and restoration work was coordinated by Susana França de Sá, professor and researcher at DCR and LAQV/Requimte at NOVA School of Science and Technology-FCT NOVA.

The Plasticity - A History of Plastics in Portugal exhibition is the result of a partnership between the Municipality of Leiria | Leiria Museum (ML) and the research project “The Triumph of Bakelite — Contributions to a History of Plastics in Portugal”, coordinated by Elvira Callapez, and developed at the Interuniversity Center for the History of Science and Technology — (FCUL and FCT NOVA ) and financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology. The quality of the exhibition had already been recognized with the "Dibner Award Prize for Excellence in Museum Exhibits (2019)".

The 25th edition of the APOM Awards Ceremony took place on December 10, 2020.
