HIGHLIGHT project finalist in the 3rd edition of the IN3 + Award

02-03-2021

HIGHLIGHT, the idea of the Nano-Photonics team coordinated by Manuel J. Mendes, professor in the Department of Materials Science and researcher at CENIMAT at the NOVA School of Science and Technology, is finalist and candidate for the IN3 + Prize, the most prestigious prize dedicated to innovation in Portugal.

The HIGHLIGHT project aims to develop an ink composed of nanoparticles that allow the manipulation of light, providing the unique possibility of visible or invisible optical variation to the human eye. According to the creators, this product could be extremely valuable to the anti-counterfeiting market, for example to apply to all types of documents and security seals.

This third edition featured 87 applications from more than 30 entities, including Universities, Research Centers, companies and startups, from all over the country, including, for the first time, international participation. Of these submissions, only five were selected for the final, and three will win.

The results are to be announced in March.
