Roundtable promotes debate on collaboration between art and technology

17-06-2021

Virgílio Cruz Machado, Dean of the NOVA School of Science and Technology, and José Barata, professor and researcher at the School's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, participated in the round table “How could Art alongside Technology lead our societies to better, and what would be the best channel to communicate with society?”, promoted by the Colombo Shopping Center as part of the 11th edition of “A Arte Chegou ao Colombo.”

The meeting brought together representatives from Art, Technology and Shopping Centers to debate the alliance between art and technology and how this collaboration can respond to human needs and add value to society. Likewise, stakeholders shared their views on what the role of shopping centers should be in a modern and happy society.

The RICS Group, coordinated by José Barata, in collaboration with Alireza Karimi Moghaddam, author of the Fancy Van Gogh exhibition, implemented the idea of using new algorithms and technology to recreate new works of art, faithful to the Artist's style. This is a new trend and a new form of collaboration between two areas.

The roundtable took place on June 15th, at the Fnac store of Centro Comercial Colombo and was also attended by Paulo Gomes, Director of Centro Comercial Colombo, João Quires, Responsible for the Fine Art Association, Alireza Karimi Moghaddam, Artist and Creator of the Fancy Van Gogh Collection, and Javad Jassbbi, Co-founder of the brands “Fancy Van Gogh” & “Boar". The meeting was broadcasted live on the Centro Comercial Colombo Facebook.
