More than two hundred volunteers from NOVA FCT at FUTURÁLIA 2024

26-03-2024

NOVA FCT was present at the 15th edition of Futurália, the country's largest education, training and employability fair, which took place between 20 and 23 March at FIL - Feira Internacional de Lisboa. The NOVA FCT stand was visited by students, parents and teachers who had the opportunity to find out more about the Faculty and clarify their doubts.

Some students, like Maria Santos, a 12th grader at Colégio Nossa Senhora da Graça in Vila Nova de Milfontes, have their preferences clearly identified. "I want to study Cell and Molecular Biology, it's my first choice, and secondly, Biochemistry." She tried to find out more about these courses at our school because "the references from friends and a teacher who also studied at NOVA FCT are the best".

Rodrigo Pires, a 12th grader at the Augusto Cabrita School in Barreiro, has some doubts about which degree will allow him to pursue a career in the aerospace industry. "NOVA is very good and the references I have are the best. I'm unsure between Physics and Mechanical Engineering and I need to understand which is the best option so that I can then do a Master's in Aerospace," he explains.

From Coimbra, students Catarina Ribeiro and Teresinha Jorge are in their 11th year and had numerous questions about the Mechanical Engineering degree: what exactly the course consists of, the impact of AI, entry averages and what career paths they can expect. Although they still have another year of secondary school to go, they say "we want to be prepared to choose the school that best corresponds to what we think we'll do professionally," they say. They are prepared to study in another city and NOVA FCT is a strong possibility. "Family members of ours study at NOVA FCT and say that the atmosphere is very good. There's an openness to what's new," emphasises Catarina Ribeiro.

The demand for Master's programmes at NOVA FCT has also been felt. Hugo Ferreira, 43, was one example. This computer engineer from the Ministry of Health's Shared Services, wants to specialise in the area of networks "I have a five-year degree, but I need to update it and NOVA FCT is one of my options".

Paula Cecília, an alumna of the School, where she did her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in maths, has a son, Rodrigo, who is in 12th grade. Rodrigo still isn't sure which course he's going to enrol on, but "if he chooses to continue his studies at NOVA FCT, I know he'll do very well!", says this teacher who fondly remembered her teachers and fellow students.

During four days of intense dynamism and lots of explanations about degrees and applications to Higher Education, the Faculty was very well represented with around 200 people involved, including student volunteers, teachers, researchers and other professionals.

NOVA FCT appreciates the dedication and spirit of all those who contributed so that, during these four days of active presence, the doubts of higher education applicants were clarified and the Faculty's excellent teaching was promoted.

To all those who visited us at FUTURÁLIA, we reiterate our invitation to come and take part in our open day, EXPO FCT, on 10 April, which you can register for here. We look forward to seeing you!
