anTUNiA: A look at 2014

12-03-2015

The 20-years of anTUNiA are invariably an important milestone in its history. At the turn of this page, and after having FCT’s Great Hall completely full of friends and family in the celebration of our anniversary, we aspired 2014 with a lot of activity that could be at the level of so much history and so many stories that this group holds.

The year opened with the participation in the First UNL’s Meeting of Solidarity Tunas. Originally organized in order to help it raise funds for the treatment of a student of the FCT, for, the worst reasons it turned into a meeting in honor of this our colleague. It was an honor for us to do this tribute, also helping to ease the pain of their friends and family.

There followed another edition of our festival, the Tágides in Almadense Academy. In this 22nd edition again completely filled with friends, either coming from FCT or the Municipality of Almada, our performance was received with warm affection that we have not found anywhere else in the world, year after year. There is no better way to start the year than to act for our audience that always made us feel at home.

After we had the privilege of working again for FCT’s community in another edition of the Marias festival, organized by TunaMaria, our semester continued with visits to Tomar, Braga, Santarém and Lisbon, representing our music in festivals organized in these cities, with the best UNL’s and FCT’s does. In addition to the experiences and  friendships by acting in such  beautiful stages, is the recognition of these festivals juries that graced us with Best Tuna awards (2) Second Best Tuna (2), Best Instrumental (4), Best Soloist , Best Tambourine (2), Best Banner Tuna and the Best Public Tuna.

After all this activity, and after  the isolation caused by the exams period, we closed the semester leading further our flag, carrying in our luggage an entire country. It was with great excitement that we were greeted by the Portuguese communities around Europe. France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland were the countries where we spread the Lusitanian soul and once again the name and excellence of FCT / UNL.

To close a landmark year, after well-deserved holidays, the anTUNiA returned in October,  five years later to the Oporto Coliseum. Those who cross a river, crosses two or three and so we crossed the Douro and, through our music, we extend a bridge to the Invicta city where we were very well received by the public. We brought home not only the memories that they will not lose, but also the awards for Best Instrumental and Best Soloist.

Since then, we have been working hard to give our colleagues and friends with more news in 2015, starting with our show at the 23rd edition of Tágides on 14 March. It was a wonderful year that left us with even greater desire to do more and better because the audience that always supports us deserves.
