Science, Technology and Society - CTS

The Faculty of Science and Technology of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa includes, for 5 years, a compulsory curricular unit of “Science, Technology and Society – CTS” - for all the 2nd year students of the Integrated Masters and Undergraduate courses covering about 1100 students per year.

This course is held between January and February, according to the school calendar of the respective academic year, organized in the form of a workshop that includes 8 lectures given by professors and researchers of the Department of Applied Social Sciences.

The objective is to sensibilize students, future scientists and engineers, to current issues that ask us about the interaction between scientific and technological practices and society in general, concretizing the commitment of FCT NOVA to give its students a comprehensive training that includes social responsibility and research ethics.

The CTS discipline complements the cycle of conferences with autonomous work, developed collaboratively by the students, on written and audiovisual material available on the CTS page - username and password: cts2016.
