Smart4Health starts testing in Madeira with national and foreign population

Smart4Health was presented to the international community last May 10th in Madeira. In the center of Funchal and in direct contact with the national and foreign citizen, the team did a demonstration on the innovative solution that allows the digital acquisition of health data in a non-invasive way. Looking for the well-being of the population, the initiative showed how each citizen is enabled to manage and have global access to their health data in an autonomous and universal way.

"Madeira is a privileged place because it is one of the most visited places in the country, giving the opportunity to test both the among the local population and the visitors," explained Ricardo Jardim Gonçalves, project coordinator, FCT NOVA Professor and GRIS / UNINOVA researcher, in the presentation session.

The President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, underlined the creation of well-being and quality of life among the population as well as the physical and psychological security to people in transit that will come from the application of this project.

In the same week, Smart4Health was the success story presented at the Horizon 2020 Health Session, held on May 8th, included in the PERIN days (Portugal in Europe Research and Innovation Network).

 

Ricardo Jardim Gonçalves shared with those present the key ingredients for a successful application and the challenges inherent in coordinating an H2020 project. This is the largest research project led by Portugal under the Horizon 2020 European Research and Innovation Program, with a total funding of 22 million euros.

The session was organized by the Office of Promotion of the Framework Program of the National Innovation Agency and Health Cluster Portugal. The initiative had ad main objective to publicize the upcoming Health Horizon 2020 competitions and promote a space for knowledge sharing and networking among participants.
