João Silva wins 5th Edition of CNS Award

João Silva, Biomedical Engineer by NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA, was the winner of the 5th Edition of the CNS José Ferreira Júnior & João Januário Coutinho Award, with the study "Analysis of Trace Elements and Biomarkers for Parkinson's Disease through XRF and Raman Spectroscopy."

The primary goal of this project is the study of Parkinson's disease, by an unusual and extremely promising approach, via the analysis of trace elements. Therein, through the increasing understanding of the characteristics of this condition, we can contribute to its prevention, development and treatment.

The CNS Award objective is to stimulate and reward initiatives, projects and works that intend to improve the quality of life of people with neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, among others) or contribute to the promotion of health in the adult population.

The award ceremony took place on December 12 at the CNS | Neurological Campus facilities.
