From July 5th to 7th, Aveiro will host the largest annual science and technology conference in Portugal, Ciência 2023 (Science 2023), which for the first time will be held outside the capital.
This year's theme, "Science and Ocean beyond the Horizon," is "a crucial theme for all of us," says Elvira Fortunato, Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education. "In the past, it was through the oceans that we explored and discovered the world. Because of them, we promoted impactful scientific development that allowed us to reach where we are,"explains.
This forum aims to enhance the involvement of researchers, entrepreneurs, students, and the general public in order to promote the discussion of ideas and collectively prepare the future of Science and Technology, both in Portugal and in Europe.
"The Science 2023 Conference also marks a strong return to face-to-face format, in a new dynamic that aims to foster lively exchanges among all those who live from and for science in Portugal," says Helena Vieira, Coordinator and holder of the ERA CHAIR BESIDE Chair at the University of Aveiro/CESAM and Commissioner of this year's Conference.
The Ciência 2023 Conference is the largest event in the field of science and technology, and it is a collaboration between the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture - Ciência Viva, and this year, also with the University of Aveiro. It has the support of the Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education and the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, Youth, and Sports.
