Erasmus+ Studies (SMS) 2022-2023 - Application

Documentation to be sent to FCT NOVA

Learning Agreement - Before the Mobility

(doc) - Must be filled in on the computer, and all orange marked instructions must be removed.  Document formatting must not be in any way changed or stroke through.

When the Learning Agreement - Before the Mobility (LA-BM) is filled in and signed by the student, it must be emailed to the DRI (div.ri.outgoing@fct.unl.pt) for verification, to certify all fields are correctly filled in, before being signed by the Course Coordinator and the Erasmus Departmental Coordinator.

  • The student must include his student number and mobile phone number in the email.

  • The LA-BM is only valid after being signed by the Course Coordinator and the Erasmus Departmental Coordinator of the student's course.

  • Some UA request the completion of the LA-BM through the Online Learning Agreement Platform (OLA). In this case, the student should refer to the tutorial (here) on how to register and fill in the LA-BM in OLA.

  • If the UA requires the student to fill in the LA-BM in OLA, the signature requested in OLA is enough for the LA-BM to be considered valid.
  • Coordinators to be appointed in OLA, according to the Department (pdf)

The deadline for sending the LA-BM to the DRI will be the same deadline as the UA requires the student to formalize the application. For example, if the UA informs the students that they have until June 1st /November 1st (1st and 2nd semester respectively) to send the requested documents, the students may send the above-mentioned document to the DRI until June 1st /November 1st.

  • Course Coordinators’ Contacts (pdf)
  • Department Erasmus Coordinators’ Contacts (pdf)

It is the student's responsibility, together with the Course Coordinator and/or Erasmus Departmental Coordinator of the course, to verify the academic recognition by:

  • Checking the course units available at the UA during the study period;

  • Draw up the study plan that will include the courses to be enrolled in at the UA (table A of LA-BM) and their respective accreditation at FCT NOVA (table B of LA-BM).

PLEASE NOTE: Application formalisation at the DRI does not exempt the completion and submission of all additional documentation requested by the UA (even if this implies duplicating documentation).

Prerequisites

UA Language requirements

When proof of a minimum level of language is required and students cannot provide official certificates; through ILNOVA-Instituto de Línguas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa it was made possible for FCT students, applying for Erasmus+ next year, to take a “language level assessment test”. The result can be used for students or until the DRI confirms the students’ language skills with the UA.

Conditions for taking the “language level assessment test” at ILNOVA:

  • the language level assessment test is available for the following languages: German, Spanish, French and English;
  • See the ILNOVA price list (here)
  • To apply students must contact the ILNOVA secretariat directly, identifying as FCT NOVA students selected to undertake an Erasmus+ mobility period. They can do so the following ways:
  • in person - Tower A, 1st floor - Monday to Thursday, from 11am to 6pm
  • by email - ilnova@fcsh.unl.pt
  • by telephone - +351 21 790 83 82
  • the test must be requested as early as possible, so that ILNOVA can plan test scheduling with all concerned students;
  • the test result will be sent to the DRI, which will send it to the student and to the UA, if requested;
  • if the UA has its own certification template, the student will have to send it to the DRI so that it can be considered for signature.
  • if the result of the assessment test is below the minimum level required by the receiving university, the student will be responsible for presenting the situation to the receiving university, and to inquire about alternative ways to obtain the necessary qualification within the stipulated deadlines.

We remind that not all students will need to take these tests. However, we advise all students to be informed, as early as possible, about the specific language requirements of their destination universities, so that they can have the certification within the required deadlines, if necessary.

Language Test - Online Linguistic Support (OLS)

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, the European Commission has contracted an online support service for participants in long-term mobility activities (i.e., mobilities ongoing for 2 to 12 months). The OLS will comprise the following:

  1. Test 1 to assess the student's language skills (mandatory) - before the mobility begins.

  2. Language course (optional) - at the beginning of the mobility.

  3. Test 2 to assess the student's language skills (mandatory) - at the end of the mobility (two weeks before the end of the mobility).

The assessment tests and the OLS language courses are free of charge.

The students will be emailed the invitation to take the first assessment test. If the first test result is lower than C2 level, the student will take the language course in the same language as the 1st test. If the language level is C2, the student may choose the language in which he wants to take the language course.

The OLS is stipulated in article 6 of the Erasmus Mobility Contract and is mandatory.
