"Preeclampsia Hand Control" is the awarded project of the 4th FCT NOVA Entrepren

The Faculdade de Ciência e Tecnologia, From the Nova University of Lisbon, includes, for 4 years, a mandatory course in entrepreneurship for all master's and doctoral students, covering about 1,000 students per year.

This course is a five weeks full regime, between January and February, with the students to develop and present an idea in the elevator pitch to a panel of researchers.

The awarded entrepreneur work ''Preeclampsia Handy Control'', focuses on the development of a biosensor to monitor preeclampsia in pregnant women. A condition that can affect all pregnant women and that, in the final analysis, can lead to death and the baby.

The winning team consists of students Cátia Figueiredo (Micro and Nanotechnology Engineering), Inês Rosete (Chemistry and bio-organic), José Miguel Cunha (Micro and Nanotechnology Engineering), Vânia Silva (Biotechnology), Vasco Santos (Micro and Nanotechnology Engineering).

''It was an experience that gave us an expanded view of entrepreneurship, especially in financial terms, one of the components rarely explored in the academic context''.
