NOVA on 150th Top of the Best in the World

The Nova University of Lisbon was awarded for the 5th consecutive year, in the international ranking “Times Higher Education 150 under 50”, leading the education indicator in Portugal.

Compared to the 2015 results, NOVA rose in three of the five analyzed indicators - Education, Research and Industry Originating Financing.
This ranking, which selects the 150 best universities around the world with less than 50 years, distinguishes the institutions that are globally noteworthy in just a few years of existence, such as the NOVA University of Lisbon, founded in 1973. The institution is in the range 101-150.

In the same week, this is the second time that the NOVA is highlighted in an international ranking. First the results of the “U-Multirank 2016” were first disclosed with the institution getting the maximum rating on 13 indicators evaluated in category A ("Very Good") in this global ranking, compiled and funded by the European Commission, which analyzes more than 1,300 institutions higher education in 90 countries.

Publications, external funding for research, interdisciplinary publications, postdocs number, private sources of financing, spin-offs, patents cited in publications, funding of continuing professional development sources, student mobility, international faculty, partnership international publications , master's students working in the area and regional publications in partnership were the indicators that achieved top marks in the ranking within the five analyzed areas - teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, international orientation and regional engagement. In the third edition of the “U-Multirank”, NOVA also improves substantially the results in intermediate categories B and C.

The achieved results in these rankings reflect the work of NOVA as a university institution that intends reference, with a teaching excellence, a competitive research at international level, innovative synergies for teaching and research and the provision services of quality, both at national and international levels, that can significantly contribute to social development, to the qualification of human resources and the professional success of its students.
