"Secret Paper" Project wins INCM Innovation Award

The team coordinated by FCT NOVA researchers Elvira Fortunato and Rodrigo Martins was the winner of the INCM Innovation Prize thus guaranteeing the financing of the project "Secret Paper - an innovative and low cost approach" and a cash prize of ten thousand euros.

This project aims to develop electronic systems using technology embedded and implemented in paper, aiming at increasing the traceability and security of documents, namely identification and travel documents, among others.

The winning team is formed by Elvira Fortunato, Rodrigo Martins, Luís Pereira and Pedro Barquinha from the Materials Research Center (CENIMAT / CEMOP) and João Goes and João Pedro Oliveira from the Technology and Systems Center of the Technology and Systems Center (CTS).

The jury also decided to award an honorable mention to the idea "Decrease of bacterial colonization in metallic money", presented by a research team composed of Telmo Santos, FCT NOVA, Carla Carvalho, Institute of Bioengineering and Biosciences of “Instituto Superior Técnico”, and Maria José Carvalho, from the Center for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon.

The INCM Innovation Award aims to reward innovative ideas that allow the creation of new products and services of the company and that can become part of its offer to the market. The announcement and prizes delivery were made by the Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernization, Maria Manuel Leitão Marques.
