13th Ibero-American Congress of Mechanical Engineering (CIBEM)

The 13th Ibero-American Congress of Mechanical Engineering (CIBEM) will take place from 23 to 26 October 2017 at FCT NOVA.

CIBEM is a biennial congress promoted since 1993 by the Ibero-American Federation of Mechanical Engineering - FEIBEM, and counts on the participation of professors, researchers, professionals and students of Mechanical Engineering. In addition, CIBEM has, over time, been an important forum for discussion that ranges from the most classic to the most current topics (biomechanics, new materials, nanotechnologies, microfluids, new energy sources, new product development concepts, advanced modeling, digital manufacturing). In this context, professionals face major challenges, such as interaction and integration with other engineering areas, something which the new 4.0 industry-based production environments require.

Considering all this, CIBEM 2017 participants from the Ibero-American space will have the opportunity to present and discuss their work with specialists and researchers, thus providing the emergence of new ideas and synergies that may influence the development of Mechanical Engineering.

At the end of the XIII CIBEM, two Career Awards will be handed to a personality from Portugal and another from the Ibero-American space, whose academic or industrial curriculum has excelled in the exercise of teaching or in the exercise of the profession of Mechanical Engineering. Two prizes will also be awarded for the best work presented at the 13th CIBEM edition: one of the prizes will be awarded to a young engineer (up to 35 years old, first author), that has presented an innovative work with impact on the community; the second prize will be awarded in the same way, but without restrictions of age limit. The authors of the awarded works will receive a certificate authenticated by the CIBEM organization.
