Elvira Fortunato chosen to be part of work group that will simplify Portugal 2020 R & D applications

NOVA Vice-Rector, researcher and professor at FCT NOVA, Elvira Fortunato, is one of three personalities chosen to lead the work group that will simplify research and development applications within Portugal 2020.

The group was created on 20 May under the auspices of the Deputy Ministers of Economy, Science, Technology and Higher Education, and Planning, and the first meeting was held on 29 May and served to clarify the methodology and thr work to develop. The group has until July 15 to present the first report with concrete proposals, and may hold interim meetings.

The ultimate objective is to increase internationally recognized quality scientific production, favor cooperation and internationalization, stimulate business investment in research and development, and strengthen the transfer of scientific and technological knowledge to the business sector.

The Portugal 2020 program (PT 2020) is a partnership agreement, established with the European Commission, which stipulates the programming priorities for economic, social and territorial development policy. The program comprises 16 operational programs, with funding from the Cohesion Policy Funds - European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Cohesion Fund and European Social Fund, and opened the first applications in 2015.
