FCT NOVA and the League for the Protection of Nature (LPN) promoted actions of cleaning and monitoring marine litter, under the scope of Mediterranean Action Day 2019 (MAD 2019).
The Mediterranean Action Day 2019 (MAD 2019) is an initiative that promotes environmental citizenship in a participatory science perspective and takes place in several European countries. It is an activity of MIO-ECSDE (Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development) with the support of the LIFE + program, which has several local NGOs for its implementation.
The initiative took place on three beaches of the Tagus River, with the collection of garbage, quantitative characterization and awareness activities on the theme, taking advantage of the proximity of Environment Day (June 5) and Oceans (June 8).
