The pandemic has accelerated the digitalization of companies and institutions, changing the model of work and education. “It is undoubtedly that post-Covid 19 world will be more digital, which generates new opportunities, stimulates innovation, and improves the“ student journey". Nevertheless, we still have a long way to go to reach an immersive technological reality, which requires a lot of investment and commitment from everyone,” say Nuno Martins Cavaco, Deputy Director of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer at the NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA), in declarations to the Jornal de Negócios.

The introduction of Artificial Intelligence tools "can eliminate borders, facilitate the learning of any course, anywhere, at any time, increasing the technological capacity and the appetite for innovation of students, teachers, and employees of educational institutions", he explains.

The deputy director adds: “In higher education, and particularly at FCT NOVA, given the level of maturity and technological literacy, both from students and teachers, the adoption of technological solutions, perhaps it was faster and easier, the “test” evidence that it is possible and it works. We conclude that the solution to put technology at the service of students is the strong capacity for change and the belief that it is possible to make it happen, involving everyone around a common goal.”

For companies, teleworking has already demonstrated several advantages such as being more economical and sustainable, however, has some limits. One of the crucial issues is ensuring working hours and decompression times. “Teleworking is here to stay,” admits the professor, “but I understand that we will converge on a balance in which presence is equally essential. I do not believe in 100% teleworking models, but I am convinced that we will evolve towards convergence and guarantee such a balance between work and private life,” he declares in SIC Notícias.
